Trying to position COTA as the 'People's Race' is cute. Maybe he means 'the race the People pay for', or 'the race that wouldn't exist without the People'. COTA gets more than $30,000,000 a year from a State of Texas tax subsidy - more than $350,000,000 so far. And even after getting all that money from the People, he still won't fix the track or provide decent logistics. Amazing.18-08-2023 22:18

Epstein says people are calling it the 'People's Race'. Literally nobody is calling it that except him. At the People's Race, it seems like the People wouldn't have to fork over $900 for a 3-day GA ticket and a Parking Pass. COTA is not as expensive as Vegas, but COTA's F1 prices have tripled just since 2021, and it's still the 3rd or 4th most expensive race on the calendar. To buy one 3-day GA Pass and a Parking Pass this year, it would run about $900 all-in. I went to every session of every race weekend across every series at COTA for the first 10 years., but I just can't justify the expense anymore. That's not affordable for me, and I live in Austin.18-08-2023 22:17

Funny the way they're couching it as an expansion of capacity when they're really just moving last year's T19 grandstand over to T6. That grandstand is also gonna be on the other side of one of the biggest runoff areas on the whole circuit, so it won't be nearly as close to the action as a few of the other grandstands are, regardless of what they're saying.19-08-2022 05:56

Yeah it did do *some* good, but what the track really needs is a full smoothing and resurfacing of the entire circuit, along with a proper repair of the drainage system. The drainage system has been ignored and they only resurfaced about 40% of the circuit. Every time they've resurfaced any of the track, the bumps have returned within a few months, and the work was done 6 or 7 months ago. Should be interesting to see how these new cars handle COTA's bumpiness. My guess is 'not well'.19-08-2022 05:54

Not more people than last year. They're just moving last year's T19 grandstand over to T6.19-08-2022 06:05

Wow. Those USA & Texas numbers are pretty ominous.23-08-2021 23:21

Oops. *2nd Quarter: "It will be in the second quarter of the 2022 season. And it will be enough gap to keep the other Grand Prix in the United States, with a reasonable distance." They're never gonna schedule Austin in May/June. Too hot.24-04-2021 18:19

Nope. I was told well before the Miami announcement that the race will take place in May. Additionally, Domenicali already stated at Imola that the Miami GP will take place in the first quarter of 2022 ... so no, it will not form a doubleheader with COTA.24-04-2021 18:12

It may be a driver announcement, but that's not what Noemi said. She said there would be an announcement. She said nothing about it being a driver announcement.06-07-2020 18:45

I love how the (no doubt British) editorial team omits how destructive Lewis also was for McLaren in 2007. LMAO. SSDD.29-06-2020 23:21
